In this news we are presenting through a short interview one of MASTERLY’s use cases.

Which is the core activity of your company?

Decathlon is a sports goods manufacturing and distribution company founded in 1976. Our aim is to make the pleasure and benefits of sport accessible to the many. Ever-evolving and high-performance design, the best quality at the lowest possible price, and expert advice that customers of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels can access in-store or online, from anywhere, at any time, is what makes us who we are.

Which application is mainly addressed in the MASTERLY project?

Decathlon logistics activities deal with a huge variety of different objects, shapes, materials. We aim to develop a robotic solution (AI driven) equipped with diverse and specific grippers, which will perform picking operations in our logistics warehouses.

Which activities do you expect to carry out in the MASTERLY project?

At first, we are demanded to cluster items with common properties from a robotic point of view. Then, we will address and check the effectiveness of research activities carried out by the scientific & technical partners. Finally, we will be key actors in the testing phase for the evaluation of the potential of the developed technology through a simulation in a real operating environment.

Which progresses and improvements do you foresee for your company thanks to the MASTERLY project?

In the warehouse operations we expect to improve the productivity and the quality of our picking process. We also have the purpose to improve the wellness of our teammates, by reducing some of the activities with low added value.
