The MASTERLY project proudly took part in the EFFRA Manufacturing Partnership Days 2025, held in Brussels from 20–22 October 2025. The event gathered hundreds of innovators, researchers, and industry leaders shaping the future of European manufacturing under the Factories of the Future and Made in Europe initiatives.

The session provided an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow Horizon Europe projects, research organisations, and manufacturing stakeholders, exploring synergies and new collaborations that support a smarter, safer, and more sustainable industrial ecosystem

During the Projects Session, our coordinator LMS – Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems & Automation, represented by Apostolis, presented MASTERLY’s vision, progress, and upcoming milestones, showcasing how the project is advancing human-centred, flexible, and intelligent manufacturing solutions for Europe’s industry.

MASTERLY is a European research and innovation project funded under Horizon Europe, involving 16 partners from 7 countries. The project aims to develop flexible robotic solutions for sustainable and high-performance manufacturing, placing humans at the centre of production.

After 33 months of work, the project has transitioned from research and development to industrial implementation, validating its results through three real-world use cases:

  • 🏗 KLEEMANN – Automating the assembly of elevator electrical cabinets with AI-driven robotics, mobile manipulators, and human–robot collaboration. The system integrates custom grippers, AI vision, skeleton tracking, and AR programming to ensure safe, flexible, and efficient operations while reducing operator workload.
  • 📦 DECATHLON – Deploying a warehouse piece-picking solution using AI vision and a flexible gripper. Product clustering, advanced vision systems, and centralized workflow control address variability and orientation challenges, improving accuracy, productivity, and ergonomics.
  • ✈️ AERNNOVA – Introducing smart overhead cranes with anti-swing control, collision avoidance, and 3D perception for precise handling of large aeronautical parts. Human–machine interaction enhances flexibility, accuracy, and safety in aerospace manufacturing.

These demonstrators show how MASTERLY technologies can enhance efficiency, safety, and quality while reducing the physical strain on workers — contributing to a more resilient and competitive European manufacturing sector.

Just one month before the Brussels event, on September 11th, 2025, MASTERLY reached another major milestone with its Second Review Meeting. All project partners gathered online to present progress and discuss feedback from reviewers, marking a key step toward the project’s final year.

Reviewers commended the strong progress made so far and the successful transition from laboratory research to industrial validation. The consortium is now focusing on real-world deployment and testing, moving closer to the final goal of bringing AI-driven, human-centred robotics into European factories.

MASTERLY continues to demonstrate how advanced robotics can support people, not replace them, paving the way for a future where humans and machines collaborate seamlessly. The project’s participation in events like #ManuDays25 highlights the importance of European collaboration in accelerating innovation and shaping the next generation of smart manufacturing.
